MS Sedco Introduces High-Current TDM

Many users of the Time Delay Module find its life shortened when used with locking devices that require a high current inrush.  In response to a call for a module built for those applications, MS Sedco is pleased to introduce the TDM-HC.  The TDM-HC is built to withstand a current inrush of 20 amps, allowing it to handle current requirements of any electric locking device, including an electric latch retraction exit device.  The list price for the TDM-HC is $190.

Chad’s Tech Support Question of the Quarter

This quarter’s question comes from John Douville of Automatic Door Service who asks “Should I stock the 1020 or the 1015 surface box?”

The recently introduced 1020 offers a lower-profile alternative than the 1015 for square switches.  CP/TX and CP/STX units now ship with the 1020 switch.  With a lower projection, the 1020 is less susceptible to damage in the field, and physically takes less space in your shop or service truck.

The 1020 has ½” less projection from the wall.  Many people will probably not notice this, so I don’t think I’d give excessive concern to stocking the 1020 to match the current CP/TX, or the 1015 to match older transmitter units that may be in the field.  Instead, I’d base the decision on the switches I stock.  The 1020 is compatible with the 59, 216 touchless, and 614 extreme switch series.  The more universal 1015 is not only compatible with these three series, but also the 59V vestibule switch, the 1078 series, and 730 keyswitch and combo switch series.  If I expected to be field installing any 59Vs, 1078s, or 730s - I would stock the 1015.  Otherwise, I’d stock the 1020.

Note that the backplate for the 1020 is slightly different than the 1015’s backplate, so this will have to be changed in unlikely event you replacing a 1015 with a 1020 in the field.

Also, for those who want to buy transmitters in the 1015 box rather than the 1020, this is still available.  Simply specify the CP/TX-1015 when ordering.
