  How BlueStar works & why it can do what others can't . . .

BlueStar utilizes frequency hopping technology to sense the presence of stationary and/or moving vehicles at traffic intersections. It has long been known that single frequency devices (think classic radar) are unable to detect a stationary object/vehicle. BlueStar differs from "your father's radar" in that it utilizes not just one frequency—but hundreds of frequencies. And BlueStar operates so rapidly that it can change [i.e., "hop"] from one frequency to the next more than 50 times every second.
 
  By combining proprietary MS SEDCO algorithms with the reflected signals from multiple, rapidly changing frequencies, BlueStar is able to detect both moving and stationary vehicles and provide true PRESENCE sensing.
